Quotes are random and everywhere. It could be in a tweet, poster sign or even a bible verse. You read it and it gets stuck in your mind. You remember it once in a while, it resonates with you and from there you realise that it has become a part of your subconscious. I’d like to believe I’m not the only person that goes through this cycle every once in a while.
Life is a bitch and that hands us crazy stuff without our consent. Where the pressure comes in, is that our choices and reactions is fully our responsibility and have a great influence to our life path.
Growing up in a Christain home, some of the quotes that have resonated with me for a long time are bible verses. Along my journey and experiences, I have also picked up on some that help with easing through some of life’s difficulties.
I cannot claim that I have read the bible all my life. In fact, I only started really enjoying a lot of bible books last year. At some point in 2018 when I was fed up of myself and didn’t know what else to do with my life, I got a courtesy call from one of my best friends.
Morolawun is a special friend to me. She advised to read the bible whenever I felt sad, I am glad I listened to her. The first book I ever fully enjoyed with all my heart was Ecclesiastes. I read it at a stretch without any distractions and I became very intrigued. I wanted to read another chapter and go on and on and on. Then, another one of my friends, Dolly, gave a sweet suggestion to read the bible from the beginning in chronological order.
She shared a couple of plans with me and I am currently on an amazing plan called “The Bible in Year”. I am yet to finished all books, I don’t even think that I have made it halfway yet. However, these are a some of my favourite bible verses so far:
“Everything has already been decided. It was known long ago what each person would be. So there’s no use arguing with God about your destiny.” Ecclesiastes 6:10
“So don’t be too good or too wise! Why destroy yourself? On the other hand, don’t be too wicked either. Don’t be a fool! Why die before your time?” Ecclesiastes 7:16-17
“Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path.” Proverbs 4:25-26
“Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! And whatever else you do, develop good judgment.” Proverbs 4:7
“A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest— 11 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.” Proverbs 6:10-11
“Always be joyful.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians” 4:13
“For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.” Luke 11:10
“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8
“Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13
